Bedrest survivial kit
luke has figured out how to get me through the next 9 weeks of bed rest - red roses, peanut butter cups, beef jerky and about 20 hours of movies to choose from. he is really working so hard to support me and get Tubs to bake long enough to be healthy.
we are doing great. he's still working hard to work his way out, but it won't be today! 26 weeks into our pregnancy, our focus is starting to shift on to the delivery and first few months of being parents. its getting pretty exciting!
Tubs has a tentative name - Dillan Thomas. We may still change it a few times, but i love this name and think we may stick with it. This week he's refining some of his senses - especially sight and sound.
please keep us in your prayers and start planning your next visit.

getting ready for Tubs!
i'm starting to nest and its really a wonderful way to start bonding with Tubs. his dresser and closet are ready to go. Jamie is here this weekend and she's going to help me purge and organize to make room for all the new baby stuff.
Speaking of new baby stuff, our registries are started at Babies R Us and at Target (Amazon). Neither one is complete yet, but feel free to start spoiling Tubby anytime. Mostly I just need to add some big ticket items that I want to go to the store and see first (crib, breast pump and decorations, ect.)
Bed rest is going well. I manage to stay off my feet enough so that I have as few as 3-5 contractions a day (down from about 20 or 30). Bored as can be, but visits from Howie and Jamie have helped a lot.
Tubs is now about a foot long and weights between 1.5 and 2 pounds. he just developed his sense of balance, which means he knows when he is flipping in circles and keeping his mommy up all night (can't spank him for it yet).

Ultrasound pictures are up!
Finally added the new pictures of Tubs. Scroll down to the bottom of this blog to see. Not the greatest pictures, but you can see how big he's gotten. We also posted new belly shots.
I other news, Tubby definitely knows Luke's voice and continues to react with kicks, twists and turns when Luke talks to him. It's the sweetest, most amazing experience to watch them playing already.
The contractions haven't completely stopped yet, but seem to only come on when I'm on my feet for too long or walk up stairs/hills. I'll keep off my feet for a few more days to see if they can go away all together. Please keep us in your prayers that these contractions stop or at least continue to be non-labor inducing. Tubby needs to stay in for at least another 14 weeks or so.

its a.....boy or girl????
its a boy! our beautiful little one couldn't wait to show off his little penis and make his mommy and daddy giggle with pride. he's a big fat baby - 98th percentile! most babies at this stage weight about a pound and Tubs already weighs a pound and a half. I'm switching names from Nomi to Tubs, as in Tubs of fun, little tubby boy, tubs and the fat man.
Everything on the ultrasound showed perfectly normal. Tubs spent some time waving to us and showing us his kicking boxing moves. Luke has been smiling ear to ear all day. we'll get the ultrasound pictures up soon.
We had a scare last night when i started having regular contractions for a few hours. We went to the hospital to make sure everything was ok. I've been pushing myself pretty hard lately and the baby isn't having anymore of it. the doctor has me resting up for at least a week to see if the contractions stop. we aren't worrying about going into preterm labor at this point - just want to make sure it doesn't escalate to that.
celebrate our beautiful baby boy with us - eat, drink or buy something blue!

things we know about nomi
ok, so really the title of this blog should be "things lisa is pretty sure she knows about Nomi". We are now 21 weeks along (big fat belly pictures posted to prove it).
Once born, Nomi will not be easily swaddled. I know this by the way she (oh yes, I'm convinced its a she - maybe the ultrasound will agree) stretched out as far as possible before falling asleep and then turns about 26 back flips. In fact, I know Nomi doesn't like anything infringing on her space - a full stomach or bladder or mommy wanting to lay down on the same side she's snuggled up into.
Nomi reacts to the sounds of her daddy's voice and also to Barrack's voice. Dad - its ok, shes too young to vote in November. She also likes to kick Dakota when the puppy takes a nap on my belly - already the sibling rivalry has started.
Nomi will be very hard headed and stubborn (must get it from Luke....), but as long as she has what she wants, she'll be a good baby. She will probably always have exactly what she wants.
This week Nomi is about the weight and size of a bottle of beer. we are all doing great and starting to get excited for Nomi's birthday!

Daddy's First Post
This is the daddy blogging now. My first one, I might add! Last night I had a special little moment with the baby. Lisa and I were lying in bed and I had my hand on her belly trying to feel the baby kick. Now, it's been a little frustrating because Lisa is always feeling the baby moving around inside her. But so far, I haven't been able to really feel much. Mostly I just sit there with my hand on her big swollen belly waiting for something, I don't really know what.
But last night I was laying next to her with my hand ready and waiting. I started talking to the baby, saying goodnight and stuff, and I felt baby kick! It was a pretty strong one, too! I kept talking, asking the baby if she was trying to get my attention, and she kicked again! I kept on being sweet and introducing myself and our little guy kept right on kicking. I looked up at Lisa and she was, of course, crying. I guess that was daddy and baby's first bonding moment. First of many, I hope.
