ok, so really the title of this blog should be "things lisa is pretty sure she knows about Nomi". We are now 21 weeks along (big fat belly pictures posted to prove it).
Once born, Nomi will not be easily swaddled. I know this by the way she (oh yes, I'm convinced its a she - maybe the ultrasound will agree) stretched out as far as possible before falling asleep and then turns about 26 back flips. In fact, I know Nomi doesn't like anything infringing on her space - a full stomach or bladder or mommy wanting to lay down on the same side she's snuggled up into.
Nomi reacts to the sounds of her daddy's voice and also to Barrack's voice. Dad - its ok, shes too young to vote in November. She also likes to kick Dakota when the puppy takes a nap on my belly - already the sibling rivalry has started.
Nomi will be very hard headed and stubborn (must get it from Luke....), but as long as she has what she wants, she'll be a good baby. She will probably always have exactly what she wants.
This week Nomi is about the weight and size of a bottle of beer. we are all doing great and starting to get excited for Nomi's birthday!

Daddy's First Post
This is the daddy blogging now. My first one, I might add! Last night I had a special little moment with the baby. Lisa and I were lying in bed and I had my hand on her belly trying to feel the baby kick. Now, it's been a little frustrating because Lisa is always feeling the baby moving around inside her. But so far, I haven't been able to really feel much. Mostly I just sit there with my hand on her big swollen belly waiting for something, I don't really know what.
But last night I was laying next to her with my hand ready and waiting. I started talking to the baby, saying goodnight and stuff, and I felt baby kick! It was a pretty strong one, too! I kept talking, asking the baby if she was trying to get my attention, and she kicked again! I kept on being sweet and introducing myself and our little guy kept right on kicking. I looked up at Lisa and she was, of course, crying. I guess that was daddy and baby's first bonding moment. First of many, I hope.

half way there!
so this week we are officially half way to our due date. 20 weeks down., 20 to go. all is going smoothly. my waist is about 42 inches around and my weight has finally started to tip the scale.
the baby spends most of the day (and night) practicing to be a ninja, but even with all of Nomi's fancy high kicks and karate chops, its still hard for anyone but me to feel the movement. Although, now that i think of it, almost everyone whose been patient enough to wait for it, has gotten a taste of Nomi's martial arts skills.
the best way i can describe how i feel is dense...like there is suddenly so much packed into my tummy, especially after dinner. luke has taken to kissing me and the baby goodbye or hello which is really a very heart warming experience for me. he talked to her before we go to bed at night and will wake me up if i roll onto my stomach "don't hurt the baby".
nomi is about the size and weight of a can of red bull. man...i miss caffeine!

week 17 update
i went to the doctor today. everything is completely normal. the baby has a wonderfully 160 beats per minute heart beat. our next appointment is Oct 6th. we'll find out if its sugar and spice or snakes, snails and puppy dog tails at that appointment.
Nomi is now about 5.5 inches and weights just under half a pound. this week Nomi is busy forming finger and toe prints and also forming teeth enamel (how crazy to think of all the little things we never consider being formed).
i am definitely popping out of my clothes. its pretty cool. luke likes to show off my belly bump by exclaiming "did you guys see how big lisa is getting?"
more pictures soon....
